Thinking about joining Rebel Badge Club?

Hello, my name’s Charly, and at the time of writing this, I’ve been running RBC for just over 4 years.

It all started as an idea while I mowed the lawn during lockdown. Rebel Badge Club began as one badge book and 52 merit badges. The original merit badges are a mix of ones inspired by the Scout and Guide badges I did as a child, and skills and hobbies which my friends told me they wanted to spend more time doing - things like Linguist, Dancer, Fitness.

Make it stand out

The first volume of the badge book is all you need to get started.

There are optional stickers, a journal and fabric badges which you can collect along the way.

Since that first book launched in October 2021, over 30,000 people around the world have bought the badge book, and around 6500 people are in our Facebook accountability group, sharing their badges and getting ideas from other people around the world.

Our club has developed into far more than one book. We now have 3 separate badge books, each containing 52 different merit badges. The later books are inspired by activities I saw Rebels doing in the Facebook group - foraging, geocaching, cocktail making, board games, model making etc.

In addition to the three badgebooks and all the merit badges, we also have a range of other stuff going on. We run live events every month - including 2 online weekends a year designed to make sure that Rebels who don’t live in the UK can get involved.

90 Rebels celebrated the 4th Birthday at a Meet Up in Reading in October 2025

Every month in the Facebook there is a monthly challenge badge, which is designed to be easier than the merit badges. These often celebrate special days like Valentine’s Day, International Women’s Day, Halloween, Talk Like a Pirate Day, or embrace the time of year - like Big Kid Summer and Big Kid Winter. We do an annual Scavenger Hunt, an annual charitable drive (Rebel with a Cause) and an annual Health Check. Each year we do a different big adventure - in 2024 this was the 3 Peaks Challenge (Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis in under 24 hours), and in 2025 it was a 24 hour open water swimming relay.

Our incredible swimmers who raised over £10,000 for Level Water during a 24 hour relay swim in September 2025.

Over the last 4 years, the group has expanded to lots of different sub-groups. We have a Facebook group called Spoonie Rebels, which is designed for neurodiverse Rebels and those with disabilities, to discuss badge modifications and support each other. We have a book club called the Rebel Readers, a Swaps group for sharing resources and a Pen Pal group. Local Rebellions meet around the world, doing badgework together and having adventures of all different kinds.

We also have a whole range of other activities you can get involved with - including the Rebel Cup, which is an annual game between groups of around 100 Rebels, teaming up around the world, a Yearbook, a quarterly Magazine, a Council (who form our steering committee), and much more.

But the simplest place to get started is to get a copy of volume one of the badgebook, and come and join our Facebook group. You can dip your toe in the water, start some badges, meet some fellow Rebels, and work out which parts of the club work for you!

Charly xx
